DESCRIPTION:“Words\, Words\, Words.”  Unitarian Universalists often struggle with\, stumble over\, and even avoid certain religious words.  How do we\, or can we\, use common religious terms?  Rev. Mark Worth returns as our guest speaker on his two-Sunday visit. \nOur guest speaker on April 21 and April 28 is Rev. Mark Worth.  Mark graduated high school in Crystal Falls\, Class of ‘66\, and NMU Class of ‘70.  He was a Conscientious Objector during the Vietnam War\, serving two years Alternate Service in a Massachusetts hospital.  A nearby Unitarian Universalist church ran a draft counseling center\, and Mark began attending to find out\, “Who are these people who care about peace?”  Mark attended Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago 1987-91\, and served as student minister to the Keweenaw UU Fellowship 1988-91\, commuting once a month from Chicago.  He has served UU churches in Ellsworth and Castine\, Maine\, and Westborough and Harvard\, Massachusetts.  He retired in 2017.

Recently\, there has been talk of possibly securing a part time minister. Two ministers of varying types have given us two offers. In order for everyone to be able to weigh in on this topic and to have an opportunity for both kids and for parents of young ones to ask questions\, raise concerns\, or simply voice support\, we’ll have a minister viability meeting with childcare available after the service on Sunday\, March 31st.

Over eastern Upper Michigan\, a wintry mix of snow\, sleet\, and freezing rain is expected\, possibly becoming all rain for a brief period late Saturday night. On Sunday\, northwest winds may gust to 40 to 50 mph leading to widespread blowing snow and whiteout conditions in exposed areas. DESCRIPTION: “Acts of Creation – The Sacred Place of Art in Our Lives”\nService Presenters:  February Sky (Phil  Cooper & Susan Urban)\nCan you imagine life without art?  Art and artists not only add beauty to our world\, they also soothe\, delight and challenge us with unique visions that can inspire us and broaden our horizons.  Also\, we believe that by making art ourselves\, we become one with the divine creative. \n  \nAre you an artist or craftsperson of any kind?  Then please bring some of your creations to display at our MUUC Arts &Crafts Fair!  It will take place  on the morning of Sunday\, January 27th\, before and after the Acts of Creation service being presented that morning by February Sky (Phil Cooper & Susan Urban).  Children as well as adults are welcome to display their creations (the service will be intergenerational\, so kids will stay for the entire service).  Please come to the church no later than 10:30 a.m. (preferably earlier) to set up your display.  While no sales of art will take place at church\, business cards may be collected for later follow-up.  Please email Heidi Gould (mqtuuadassist@gmail.com) if you want space for a display.
